Debian KDE

Welcome to the Debian/KDE Package page. My name is Ivan E. Moore II and I am a Debian Developer who some how managed end up packaging up KDE. I'm not the official Maintainer nor do I do all the work. Stephan Kulow is the official guy but he spends most of his time making KDE work. So in step I.

My main goal has been and will continue to be to make the KDE packages work! :) They should install easily, work, and also remove easily. Things should work the way they are supposed to and not cause any problems with any other packages. So far I am making this happen. The KDE folks have been really good at fixing problems and helping out in general.

In what free time I have had, I have started to package up all the extra applications for KDE out there. I do not claim to be the official place to get these, but I make them available for those who want them. I am working on contacting the Authors and verifying that no one else is already packaging them but that will take time as I'm still trying to do alot of other things. In order to make things work smoother, I have setup a mailing list here for use by anyone to talk about the KDE Packages I maintain. Bug reports should be submitted to the KDE Bug Tracking System. Please do not report bugs to the Debian Bug Tracking System.

If you have a package that you have made and want me to put it up in my archive, let me know. I don't want to do all the work. :) I have scripts in place already to do auto-updates and everything so I'm ready for your help with this archive.
To subscribe to the Debian/KDE Mailing list, you can do one of 2 things. Go to http://kde.tdyc.com/archive/ and register that way, or send email to:

This list is archived to the web (just started to do this) and is also searchable. Below you will find the link to the online archive. If there are programs out there that you would like me to package, please let me know. I have it down to an art. :) If you are an author of a program which I packaged and didn't talk to you about it...you can yell at me on the mailinglist so that everyone can see. :) To send mail to the mailing list, just send it to kde-debian@tdyc.com.

There are a few ways to get the KDE/Debian packages. The first and best way is to add a few lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list file. This will allow you to just have apt handle it all. The other way is to ftp in. There are 3 different sections I have setup for apt. The first is kde which contains the core KDE files. The second is contrib which will be all the extra KDE packages I or others have created. The third is rkrusty which are all non-KDE pacakges I either maintain or have made to help others out with.

Search the KDE Linux Packaging Site!
The whole KDE Packaging site (mainly the mailing list archives) is searchable via the following search engine. We are using HTDIG here and it seems to do a great job indexing everything. The database is updated daily so you will get up to date search results.
